Through the dedicated
assistance of

...our earlier contact person Ms Inge Kamentz, and through a small project of the former German ambassador Peter Wienand and the Attaché of the German Embassy, Mr Fierley, to all of whom we would like to again offer our heartfelt thanks, the social-therapeutic Janucz Korczak Centre could be officially handed over last year.

The centre currently has a number of workshop areas:

  • tailoring
  • teaching kitchen
  • carpentry workshop
  • arts and crafts workshop
  • computer room

A pottery is also planned; its room is already complete, but because of the shortage of equipment, such as a potters' wheel, it still can't be handed over for use.

Currently 15 severe and multiply disabled teenagers work in the Janucz Korczak Centre. Three healthy teenagers help as well; all came to the Nadjeshda Centre several years ago as abandoned children, with almost no experience of school. At the moment the director of the Janucz Korczak Centre is endeavouring to bring old or socially isolated people into the work of the centre. Through a donation it has been possible to extend the workshops.
